#FF – the delayed Saturday edition

This week has been insanely busy, as I have been working non-stop in the final days and hours before mid-term elections on Tuesday, November 4th on behalf of a local state representative running for re-election to her second term.  I am in charge of coordinating all volunteers and election day activity.  I actual fell asleep last night with my tablet in my hands as I was typing the #FollowFriday post below.  I thought about finishing it after the election and using it for next Friday’s post, but I have a contract with myself and my readers.

I happened upon this week’s #FollowFriday blog in The Commons for Blogging 201. Melly over at My Life in Words  was looking for a Blogging Buddy and I was looking to try and catch up with Blogging 201 assignments and comments. I thought I might have an idea about a fellow blogger she might be able to connect with to work together as Blogging Buddies.

On her about page, I discovered Melly is a transitioning veteran, who served our nation in the U.S. Navy, a mom of two young sons, wife, and a Mexican immigrant who was brought into the U.S. illegally as an infant.  Before you get too excited about illegal immigration, Melly did obtain her citizenship. Her new blog is as about her daily life as a mom and wife delivered from her unique perspective, which she promises will not contain posts about craft projects and cleaning tips as she leaves that for other bloggers to post.

I was pulled in by her post Raising Kind Adults, which I found to be so timely as recently it seems that nearly every mother of young girls I encounter has commented on the cliques of mean girls their daughters are dealing with at school.  Melly brings to the dialogue the perspective of both a mother concerned about raising kind children and a woman who has been on the receiving end of bullying by mean girls as a child herself.

Her post Dia De Los Muertos (Day of The Dead) is informative and interesting as she discusses not only Halloween but also the Aztec traditions of her ancestors she has not yet shared with her children.

When you get a chance, visit with Melly over at My Life in Words.  I am confident that you will find something of interest on her pages.

Until next Friday.
